The Big Fake Wedding Seattle is almost here!  Cannot tell you how excited I am for this event. An amazing group of vendors is coming together to through the best fake wedding you will ever experience. Taking place October 8 at the Space Needle, the event has been sold out for months. Hope you have your tickets!  If not, don’t worry, I will post tons of pictures of all the great ideas. One of the things I am most excited to see are the DIY ideas.  I have a few I plan to share 🙂 I am so honored to be selected to be a part of The Big Fake Wedding Seattle.  The venue is iconic Seattle and the inspiration board is a great twist on NW style.  Hope to see you there!

One of my most anticipated weddings of the summer, Stephanie and Brian were recently wed at the Majestic Inn in Anacortes WA. Stephanie and I worked on her floral ideas for about a year, with her goal of creating a romantic color palette that paired light and dark tones. “Something Victorian”, she said. Though we didn’t take the the vintage theme literally, we were inspired by the era’s colors. The palette we created were tones of plum, blush, lavender and cream. The bridal bouquet was full of the wedding colors and lots of texture.  The locally grown flowers included: dahlia, garden roses, phlox, scabiosa, oregano, yarrow, cerinthe and mint.       The ceremony was held in the hotels garden.  The arbor was decorated with flower sprays in the wedding colors.  Ceremony aisle was lined with shepherd hooks, holding small vases of flowers. One of my goals as a floral designer is to help inspire brides as they plan their weddings. In an effort to find new ways to do just that, I embarked on a year-long photo project.  Images were taken this summer of various color palette ideas, using only the flowers found growing in my garden.  Clients ask me all the time, what flowers come in my wedding colors? Now they have a visual reference. Here is a look at a few of these choices.   Color Palette: Citrus & Cream For those brides looking for a bright, fresh take on the yellow and grey color combination. One thing I love working on is styled shoots.  Collaborating with other vendors on a shared vision is rewarding and a lot of fun. It gives me a chance to try new ideas. A recent shoot was just featured on Trendy Bride, a wedding inspiration blog.   Focusing on the Pantone color of the year, Marsala, the vision was vintage and elegant.  By adding in lighter shades of peach and blush, the burgundy shade really shines.  I incorporated lots of vines and herbs, even some black berries, to add movement and texture to the floral designs.  Such a fun project to work on and what a great group of vendors!  Thanks to Trendy Bride for sharing our work.

On my kitchen window sill sit several orchid plants.  One in particular just starting blooming, a lovely spotted purple odontoglossum. I used it in a bridal bouquet last fall, for a bride who loved all shades of purple. Seeing the orchid bloom reminded me I had yet to share images from that wedding, so here goes!   The brides bouquet featured fall blooms in shades of purple and cream.  Flowers included lisianthus, roses, calla lilies, beauty berry and physocarpus leaves. The orchid really stands out lovely on top of the other blooms.   Another view of the bridal bouquet.   The bridesmaid bouquets were lighter tones of purple.  They look a bit more pink in this image, but were really lavender!
