Vibrant Purple Wedding

07/29/2015

On my kitchen window sill sit several orchid plants.  One in particular just starting blooming, a lovely spotted purple odontoglossum. I used it in a bridal bouquet last fall, for a bride who loved all shades of purple. Seeing the orchid bloom reminded me I had yet to share images from that wedding, so here goes!   The brides bouquet featured fall blooms in shades of purple and cream.  Flowers included lisianthus, roses, calla lilies, beauty berry and physocarpus leaves. The orchid really stands out lovely on top of the other blooms.   Another view of the bridal bouquet.   The bridesmaid bouquets were lighter tones of purple.  They look a bit more pink in this image, but were really lavender! Using a mix of dahlias, stock, roses and lisianthus, the bouquets were so bright and cheerful.   Closer look at a bridesmaid bouquet. Isn’t the bi-color dahlia lovely? OrchidsRead More

The Big Fake Wedding Seattle

07/15/2015

The Big Fake Wedding is coming to Seattle and I have been selected to be a featured vendor.  How exciting is that! The Big Fake Wedding (formerly known as The NotWedding) is a ground breaking alternative to the traditional wedding show.  Guests experience a wedding in all its glory: an emotional vow renewal ceremony, a dance-party reception and dinner with drinks.  The hand-selected vendors work as they would at a real wedding, giving guests a chance to see them in action and view their creations. Brides and grooms leave the event saying “I want my wedding to be just like that!” The Big Fake Wedding Seattle takes place October 8 at the Space Needle, starting at 7pm.  With past events selling out, purchasing your tickets in advance is recommended. Each event has an inspiration board for vendors to work from, with the Seattle event being The Fair Isle.  ThisRead More

Skagit Wedding Tour at Beau Lodge

07/08/2015

For this years Skagit Wedding Tour, we were part of the team at Beau Lodge. Nestled in the woods and featuring its own pond, this former homestead gave us the inspiration to style a Summer Camp wedding. And with an early June date, we were able to feature locally grown flowers such as peonies, garden roses and poppies.  Thank you to Laura Nichols Photography for capturing the day on film and sharing these images with us. As I was searching for inspiration, I found some madras fabric in bright pink shades at the fabric store.  It’s patchwork style reminded me of quilts you might bring camping to stay warm at night. Turning the fabric into table runners, pillows and part of the tee-pee, everything else fell into place around the colors. The tee-pee is the piece I was most excited about creating. I thought it would be a fun backdropRead More

Summer Wedding of Blush at Lairmont Manor

06/24/2015

The color blush is popular now with brides.  I like how the look changes as the seasons change, depending on what flowers are growing at the time.  For this summer wedding, we used roses, dahlias and scented geranium leaves. Clusters of flowers were added to the ceremony chairs as well.  A classic look with a twist for a beautiful wedding at the Lairmont Manor in Bellingham.

Mount Vernon Church Wedding

06/17/2015

Most of my clients strive for an outdoor wedding in the summer, to take advantage of our gorgeous weather.  But it was a nice change to provide flowers for an indoor wedding this past summer.  Held at the First United Methodist Church and McIntyre Hall, we used flowers in shades of pinks. The bridal bouquet included roses and dahlias in shades of pink, with touches of pink snow berries and greenery.  The bridesmaids bouquets were white roses and dahlias. The church’s altar was decorated with two tall floral arrangements. Flowers were similar to the brides bouquet, with addition of hydrangeas, stock and more greens. The reception was held at the local theatre, McIntyre Hall, which boasts a dramatic entry room.  Table tops were alternated with the tall arrangements used on the altar and low centerpieces. The low centerpieces included one of my favorite summer flowers, Zinnia ‘Queen Red Lime’. MyRead More
