Flower Arranging Ladies Lunch

04/02/2016

I love teaching flower arranging workshops! So I was thrilled to work with Jenny Cookies on a fun Spring Ladies Lunch where I taught the guests how to create simple spring-time arrangements. We chose bright spring colors of yellow, white and green for our color palette. Daffodils have got to be the most cheerful spring flower, with their bright yellow colors and ruffly edges.   Jenny worked her magic and created a beautiful and inviting luncheon for our guests.  They dinned on a picnic style lunch, chatted with friends new and old, and tasted some delicious treats at the end. Using locally grown flowers from my yard and other local farms, we had a great selection to choose from for our arrangements. I walked the guests through the design, step-by-step, giving them tips along the way.  They all did an amazing job!   We had so much fun!  Cannot waitRead More

The Big Fake Wedding

01/29/2016

The Big Fake Wedding came to Seattle this past fall, the first time they have been in Washington. Held at the iconic Space Needle, the event is an alternative to the traditional wedding show.  Instead of vendors having booths, they stage a real wedding! Guests experience a wedding ceremony, reception and dancing, which allows them to see all the vendors in action. I was fortunate enough to be invited to participate, providing bouquets, boutonnieres and two table designs for the event. We were given a mood board to work with, titled The Fair Isle.  This helped keep the wedding look cohesive while still allowing each vendor to showcase their styles. Color palette was neutral: sage, moss, ink, thistle blue, browns. The images that stood out for me on the board were tweeds, wool yarn, forest, thistles and candlelight.  From there, I crafted some items for the table designs and gatheredRead More

Wedding: Sarah and Matty

11/27/2015

Our favorite weekend outing is to go hiking at one of our many state parks.  We live near so many, it can be hard to choose a favorite.  But Deception Pass State Park is definitely a standout, with its sweeping ocean views and sheltered beaches.  One of these beaches, Rosario Beach, is where Sarah and Matty chose to get married. Sarah is a wedding photographer from Texas, so she knows a thing or two about weddings. She was planning her own wedding from a far and found me to help design her florals.  I work with many brides who have connections to the PNW but live in other states now, so this was not a problem. We talked on the phone and via email, exchanging ideas and wishes for their wedding. When their wedding day finally arrived, I met Sarah for the first time in person as I handed herRead More

Flower Arranging Class with Jenny Cookies

10/27/2015

Jenny Keller of Jenny Cookies is truly an inspiration to me. I love to bake and make sugar cookies for holidays.  But she takes things to a whole new level.  So creative!  And she really knows how to host a party.  So when she contacted me to come teach a flower arranging class for one of her Ladies Lunch, of course I said yes! Held at her house just outside Seattle, the luncheon focused on the beauty of fall.  The leaves were just changing color and the air is colder outside.  For the flower arrangements, I chose to show how to use flowers purchased from the store with flowers found in your yard.  There is a lot you can do with the flowers/shrubs/trees found in your yard!  When finished, the arrangements were a true celebration of the beauty of fall. Each one was slightly different but all were stunning. CheckRead More
