Workshops

Creating with flowers is my passion. I love growing plants from seed, planning gardens, harvesting the bounty and designing with them. In 2017, I am offering workshops to share my knowledge of flowers and design with you. These half-day workshops are created to help build your skill levels and understanding of garden-inspired floral design. You will experience hands-on practice designing with flowers and leave inspired to create on your own. And you will gain a new set of flower-loving friends to support you on your journey!

The Cutting Garden

May 7, 2017

Stepping Stones Garden, 1-3pm

Walking outside your door to cut flowers for an arrangement is so rewarding. Flowers provide beauty in your landscape and your home. By choosing plants for all seasons, you can supplement your floral designs all year long from the garden. No need to have acres of land or to be a farmer. You can grow a cutting garden anywhere you live!

In this workshop, we will learn how to create a cutting garden and how to design with the cut flowers. We will talk about choosing the plants, designing the garden, harvesting and care of the flowers. Then we will create a centerpiece using seasonal, locally grown flowers.

The workshop will be held at Stepping Stones Garden, a venue located in Burlington WA. Boasting expansive gardens filled with mature flowers and trees, we will spend time touring the grounds. Their gardens will provide inspiration for your own home. If you have ever wanted to try your hand at growing cut flowers and designing with them, this workshop is for you!

Garden Party Flowers

June 11, 2017

Faberfarm, 1-3PM

We are in the midst of a locally grown flower renaissance. People are drawn to flower designs that look as though they were gathered straight from the garden. You are seeing lush, overflowing florals in magazines and blogs for party planning inspiration. How do you create such beautiful designs yourself?

In this workshop, we will explore the garden-inspired design style with hands-on practice. We will talk about sourcing locally grown flowers, flowers available by season, how to care for cut flowers, color palettes, use of texture and movement and much more. Then we will create a centerpiece perfect for your summer garden parties.

The workshop will be held at Faberfarm, a venue located in Mount Vernon WA. The barn and grounds have been lovely restored, providing the perfect backdrop for a garden party. Whether you are new to floral design or have been a floral designer for years, I promise you will find great benefits from this workshop.  I will help you see nature and design in a new light, encouraging you along the way to find your own design voice.
