Update to Purple Wedding Flowers at Bellingham Cruise Terminal

Just a quick update to the wedding held at Marine Park and Bellingham Cruise Terminal  in Bellingham this past August.  The photographer, Amy Parsons, posted some new images of the wedding that I wanted to share with you.

To read more about the flowers used for this wedding, please check out the previous blog post for Lynn and Scott's wedding. Enjoy the new photos!

Purple Wedding Flowers at Bellingham Cruise Terminal

With our cool weather this summer, I have been constantly nervous for my clients with outdoor weddings.  This weekend was no different.  Though the reception was held at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal, their ceremony was just down the road at Marine Park. Luckily, the weather was gorgeous!

I met Lynn and Scott this past winter at a bridal show.  They were looking for purple flowers and were interested in using locally grown flowers.  I am pleased to say almost all the flowers used in their wedding were locally grown.  Take a look at how beautiful they turned out.

The bridal bouquet.  Lynn really likes purple hydrangea, so we used that as our color pallet an chose flowers in deep purple to magenta tones.  Lots of herbs for fragrance.  Even the roses smelled, which is such a rarity!

The bridal bouquet is in the middle, with the bridesmaid bouquets around.  Their dresses were a grey tone, so added white astrantia to tie the colors together.

Scott was not excited about a floral boutonniere, so we designed them with herbs instead.  Used lavender, rosemary, thyme and scented geraniums.  Masculine but still fits in with the other wedding flowers.

For the moms, we created wrist corsages using the most stunning cream colored garden roses.  They really didn't need much adornment with them, just a few herbs.  And the fragrance was so amazing.

How gorgeous is this ceremony location?  Held at Marine Park in Fairhaven, it was literally right on the water.  Because of the breathtaking view, we decided the ceremony didn't need a lot of floral adornment.  Just a few hooks, with hanging vases filled with hydrangeas.

A closer view of the hanging vases.  I love these shepherd hooks, with their over arching curve.  Look so sculptural.  They are part of my stock, which I offer to my clients as rentals.  So are the vases.

Onto the reception at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal.  Their tables looked stunning, with the linens and goodies.  Here is a picture with the floral centerpiece in place.

Here is a better view of the centerpiece.  Designed in a pave style, it incorporates a lot of gorgeous garden flowers.  Included were garden roses, hydrangea, sage, rosemary, scabiosa, phlox, lavender, malva, sweet peas and probably a few more I am forgetting to mention.

When I do not grow the flowers I need for a particular wedding, I am fortunate to source my flowers through a local network of growers.  They include Jello Mold Farms, Everyday Flowers, ZCallas and J Foss Flowers, all amazing growers who are passionate about what they do.  Such a pleasure to work with their flowers!

Congratulations to Lynn and Scott!  Hope you enjoyed your flowers as much as I enjoyed creating them for you.

Orange Marigold Garlands and Cut Flowers for Wedding

Pamela contacted me this spring, looking for locally grown cut flowers for her daughters summer wedding to be held at the Samson Estate Winery in the Bellingham area.  Her daughter, Shalini, wanted to gather her friends and arrange all the flowers for the wedding.  They also wanted to incorporate marigold garlands, similar to the ones used in hindu weddings.

Fast forward to this weekend and the wedding date is now here!  Yesterday I delivered the flowers to the winery, so the bridal party had time to arrange them.  Flowers include dahlia, snapdragon, phlox, zinnia, white and yellow dill, rudbeckia, lemon balm, grasses, cape fuchsia, calendula, and helenium.  All in the color palette of red, orange and yellow.

The other wedding floral items ordered were marigold garlands in orange. Traditionally used in hindu weddings, the bride and groom wanted to use them to honor and recognize certain family members.  We decided to make them a bit shorter than is common, mostly because they are really heavy!  They turned out gorgeous and smelled great too.  Here is a picture of one, on the statue in my yard.  She makes a nice model.

I have to say the Samson Estate Winery is a beautiful venue for outdoor weddings.  Manicured grounds set amungst the grape and raspberry fields of Everson, below is a picture of the building. Though I did not personally meet the staff, Pamela was very pleased with the service she received.  And they have the coveted chiavari chairs for their tables!
