Pamela contacted me this spring, looking for locally grown cut flowers for her daughters summer wedding to be held at the Samson Estate Winery in the Bellingham area. Her daughter, Shalini, wanted to gather her friends and arrange all the flowers for the wedding. They also wanted to incorporate marigold garlands, similar to the ones used in hindu weddings.
Fast forward to this weekend and the wedding date is now here! Yesterday I delivered the flowers to the winery, so the bridal party had time to arrange them. Flowers include dahlia, snapdragon, phlox, zinnia, white and yellow dill, rudbeckia, lemon balm, grasses, cape fuchsia, calendula, and helenium. All in the color palette of red, orange and yellow.

The other wedding floral items ordered were marigold garlands in orange. Traditionally used in hindu weddings, the bride and groom wanted to use them to honor and recognize certain family members. We decided to make them a bit shorter than is common, mostly because they are really heavy! They turned out gorgeous and smelled great too. Here is a picture of one, on the statue in my yard. She makes a nice model.

I have to say the Samson Estate Winery is a beautiful venue for outdoor weddings. Manicured grounds set amungst the grape and raspberry fields of Everson, below is a picture of the building. Though I did not personally meet the staff, Pamela was very pleased with the service she received. And they have the coveted chiavari chairs for their tables!
