Seasonal Bouquet Series - Purple May Flowers

Continuing with my challenge from a few weeks ago, I set out in my yard with clippers in hand to see what was blooming.  This time, the color was mostly purple.  With purple being a popular color choice for my bridal clients this year, I thought this would be a great bouquet to share.

The flowers used include lilac, artemisia, kale, chives and cerinthe.  The cerinthe (dark purple flower) is a newer flower to me that I tried a few years ago.  Was not certain about it at first but now I love it.  It fits the deep purple tone that so many people search for, and some of its leaves are purple as well.  Very beautiful little flower.

Lilacs have got to be in my top ten favorite flowers, if not the top five.  Love their frilly flowers and abundant fragrance.  The lavender colored lilac trees are always the first to bloom in my yard.  The dark purple are almost open and the white is last. I have a double white lilac tree that I cannot wait for it to bloom.  They are perfect!

I have been collecting vintage jewelry for awhile, starting with some of my grandmothers pieces.  This broach attached to the bouquet stems I just picked up at an antique mall.  I think it is stunning and would be beautiful for one of my brides this year.

I brought my youngest daughter Chloe, who is four, with me to the antique mall. Start them young, I say :)  She got into the game of "hunting" for jewelry in each stall, but kept saying "Look at all this junk!".  She meant it in a good way, but it didn't sound very nice. Trying to get her to say "treasures" instead but might take a bit more practice :)

Welcome again to the new series for my blog, seasonal bouquets. I will go into my garden and create the most beautiful bouquet I can with the flowers that are blooming right then. Check back soon for another posting!
